Data for “Perceived overtourism and residents’ support in a living heritage destination: the relational role of host–guest relationship quality
Description
This dataset contains anonymized survey data collected from 316 residents of Hoi An Ancient Town, Vietnam, between August and October 2025. The data were used in the study entitled “Perceived overtourism and residents’ support in a living heritage destination: the relational role of host–guest relationship quality.” The dataset includes respondents’ demographic and tourism-related characteristics, together with multi-item measures of perceived overtourism (OT), perceived tourism benefits (TB), perceived tourism costs (TC), place attachment (PA), perceived destination management effectiveness (DM), host–guest relationship quality (RT), and residents’ support for tourism development (ST). The main constructs were measured using five-point Likert-type scales. All directly identifying information has been removed. The accompanying codebook provides variable definitions, coding schemes, construct abbreviations, and item descriptions. The questionnaire used for data collection is also provided to facilitate interpretation and reproducibility.
