Supplementary Luminex panel for ‘Age and sex impact migraine-like phenotypes and cytokine expression in a mouse preclinical chronic migraine model’

Description

In summary, young adult (8 to 10 weeks) and middle-aged (40 to 42 weeks) C57BL/6J mice were given intraperitoneal injections of 10 mg/kg nitroglycerin or saline on three alternating days (1, 3, 5). On each experiment day, mechanical allodynia, thermal hyperalgesia and cold allodynia were assessed. On the last day, mice were euthanized and their plasma and cortex were collected. The tissues were homogenized and analyzed with the Luminex 48-plex immunoassay kit. Our hypothesis was that, nitroglycerin will produce sex differences in cytokine, chemokine and growth factor levels in the plasma and brain. These changes could reveal sex-linked mechanisms that underlie chronic migraine. This dataset is for cytokines that had no significant differences in plasma or cortical levels between nitroglycerin and saline-treated groups.
