Ukraine's Commodity-Group CPI and Consumer Basket Weight Panel, 2001-2025
Description
This dataset provides an annual panel, by the 12 COICOP-aligned commodity/service groups used in Ukraine's CPI, combining: the December-to-December CPI change (2001-2025), the year-average CPI change (2002-2025), the group's weight in the consumer basket (2010-2024), and an author-calculated approximate contribution of each group to headline inflation. The dataset supports research on structural shifts in Ukrainian household consumption, the food and energy components of inflation, and approximate core-inflation analysis. METHODOLOGY & SOURCES Figures are taken directly from Derzhstat's official Consumer Price Index publication (three underlying series: December-to-December by group, year-average by group, and basket weight structure by group). No figures have been estimated or interpolated, with the sole exception of inflation_contribution_pct, which is calculated as described in the Dictionary sheet. Derzhstat's source publishes 12 commodity/service groups, which correspond one-to-one to the 12 top-level divisions of the UN Classification of Individual Consumption According to Purpose (COICOP). The two-digit coicop_division_code values (01-12) were assigned by the author to these Derzhstat group names; they are not printed in the Derzhstat source itself. Three coverage gaps are documented in the Dictionary sheet: - basket_weight_pct is published by Derzhstat only for 2010-2024 (not for 2001-2009 or for 2025 in the source used) and is left blank outside that range. - cpi_yoy_avg_pct is published from 2002 onward only, and 2001 is left blank. - inflation_contribution_pct is blank wherever the two inputs it depends on are unavailable.
