Description

We assessed the association of ApoE genotypes with diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) susceptibility in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients, focusing on altered lipid profiles and clinical features related to neuropathy. ApoE gene variants are linked with an increased susceptibility to DPN, with ε4-containing genotypes conferring the highest risk [adjusted OR (95%CI) = 1.62 (1.08–2.44)]. These findings support the incorporation of ApoE genotyping into risk-stratification models for the early detection and precision management of DPN.
