Description

Dataset for "Hailstorm Responses to Climate Change across Diverse Synoptic Environments in South Korea: A Pseudo-Global Warming Study" This dataset supports the paper "Hailstorm Responses to Climate Change across Diverse Synoptic Environments in South Korea: A Pseudo-Global Warming Study". The data were produced using WRF simulations of twelve hailstorm cases in South Korea, each performed under the current climate (CTRL) and a pseudo-global warming condition (PGW) with an end-of-century climate change signal under the SSP5-8.5 scenario. All data are provided in a single NetCDF file (hailstorm_pgw_dataset.nc). Most variables share the two basic dimensions, case (12 hailstorm cases, LT1-LT3, CC1-CC3, and UP1-UP6) and experiment (CTRL and PGW), with additional dimensions used where needed (e.g., height for vertical profiles and diameter_bin for hail size distributions). The file contains case-level statistics of hailstorm environments, hail and precipitation characteristics, convective updrafts and clouds, and storm tracking, along with hail diameter distributions and selected vertical profiles. The dataset also includes the configuration files for the simulations. These are the WRF namelist of one case (LT2), the simulation period and the location of the innermost domain for each of the twelve cases, and the PGW4ERA5 settings used to add the climate change signal to the ERA5 data. Please refer to the README file for the full list of variables and files.
