Description

The consolidated World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) database contains 90,167 greenhouse-related patent records published between 1975 and 2025 across 75 countries or jurisdictions. Each record includes the publication date, geographical origin, patent title, and International Patent Classification (IPC) codes, enabling the analysis of temporal trends, global distribution, and the main technological fields associated with greenhouse innovation.

Steps to reproduce

The database was obtained through a structured search conducted on the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) patent platform, using the International Patent Classification codes associated with greenhouse technologies: A01G 9/00, A01G 9/14, A01G 9/16, A01G 9/18, A01G 9/22, and A01G 9/24. The search covered the period from 1975 to 2025. The retrieved results were exported and integrated into a single spreadsheet. Subsequently, a data cleaning and standardization process was carried out, including the identification of potential duplicate records, standardization of publication dates, harmonization of IPC codes, and normalization of countries and patent offices according to WIPO ST.3 codes. Finally, the records were organized by publication date, country, patent title, and technological classification, resulting in a consolidated database comprising 90,167 patent documents.
