Description

Dataset and Analysis Description This repository contains the data and materials used in the study “Unlocking the Judiciary: Predictive Determinants of Actual and Potential Access to Brazilian State Courts”. The research investigates the factors that explain both effective and potential access to justice within Brazilian state courts, using predictive modeling and empirical data analysis. Data IAJ_Base_Tribunais.xls: Original dataset with court-level information, including structural, procedural, and socio-demographic indicators related to judicial access. base2.xlsx: Processed and cleaned version of the dataset, containing the variables selected for statistical modeling and predictive analysis. Analysis Materials Artigo_BAR.Rmd: R Markdown file with the complete manuscript, including descriptive statistics, econometric models, and predictive analyses. It integrates both narrative and code, ensuring reproducibility. Artigo_BAR.Rproj: R Project file organizing the analytical environment, facilitating reproducibility and linking the associated files. Artigo_BAR.R: R script containing the core data preparation, transformations, and statistical modeling routines used in the analysis. Analytical Approach The analysis combines descriptive statistics, regression models, and predictive techniques to identify determinants of judicial access. Variables include institutional characteristics of the courts, caseload indicators, socio-economic context, and demographic information. The models aim to distinguish between actual access (measured by effective court use) and potential access (estimated by structural and demographic capacity).
