Data for: Encouraging Skill Development: Evidence from Public-Private Partnerships in Education in Russia’s Regions
Description
This is a replication dataset and code for the main analysis presented in the research article "Encouraging Skill Development: Evidence from Public-Private Partnerships in Education in Russia’s Regions" (see references). The dataset consists of original data on Vocational Education in Russia's regions, which was collected from the end-of-year performance reports of 1654 Russian secondary vocational education facilities for the academic year 2013-2014. Data on the nature of cooperation between each of the schools and their partner firms was extracted from the reports and coded to generate variables that measure the number of complex forms of partnership and the share of schools using these forms. Further details and more context about the data can be found in the "Data and Empirical Strategy" section of the main text or on the corresponding author's website (israelmarques.com). The replication dataset also includes all independent variables of interest and control variables used in the analysis. Details of these additional data and their sources can be found in Appendix Table A1 of the main text's supplementary materials and in the "Data and Empirical Strategy" section of the main paper. Finally, we also include the code necessary to replicate the main results tables and those supplementary analysis in the appendix.

Steps to reproduce
Please see the "Data and Empirical Strategy" section of the main paper for replication information for the original measures of vocational education structure in the regions (number of costly practices, share of schools using costly practices, number of traditional practices). These data are part of a micro-level dataset that is still being developed. Details on this dataset, codebooks, etc. can be found at the corresponding author's personal website: israelmarques.com. Information on the sources of all other data can be found in Appendix Table A1 of the main text's supplementary materials.
