Description

Complete dataset for Harvey Lake sediment samples analyzed using Loss on ignition after Heiri et al., 2001. LOI was performed after X-ray fluorescence core scanning (XRF-CS) of sediment. Sediment was removed from sample holders after XRF-CS, placed into pre-weighed crucibles, weighed, dried for 24 hours at 110 degrees Celsius, weighed, combusted and 550 degrees Celsius, then weighed a final time. Percent water was considered the difference between sediment before and after drying divided by the wet weight of sediment; percent organic was considered the difference in weight before and after combustion divided by the total dry weight of sediment. Five samples (represented by NA) do not have Organic % as crucibles tipped over during handling and thus were excluded due to the possibility that some material was lost.
