Included and excluded records, cross-database validation corpus, and validation metrics for a bibliometric analysis of hospital wastewater-based epidemiology (2000–2026)
Description
This dataset supports the manuscript "Mapping the Research Landscape of Hospital Wastewater-Based Epidemiology (2000–2026): A Bibliometric Analysis of Research Themes, Collaboration Patterns, and Emerging Fronts" (currently under review). Bibliographic records were retrieved from the Web of Science (WoS) Core Collection using a Topic Search (TS) strategy covering hospital wastewater combined with pathogen/AMR/pharmaceutical/surveillance concept blocks, and from Scopus using a field-mapped translation of the same query. Both searches were executed on 8 July 2026, covering publication years 2000–2026 (2026 is a partial year). Records were screened with a PRISMA-style, fully documented procedure. WoS corpus: 1,533 records retrieved → 1,325 included, 208 excluded (exclusion reasons provided per record). Scopus validation corpus: 2,878 records retrieved → 2,434 included; used solely for cross-database validation of the WoS-based findings. Cross-database overlap: 1,247 records matched by DOI and 1,159 by normalized title; after combining and deduplicating both matching passes, 1,267 Scopus records were flagged as overlapping with the WoS corpus (per-record flags in scopus_validation_dataset.csv), corresponding to a 95.6% coverage rate of the WoS corpus; 1,167 Scopus records are unique. Annual publication trends (complete calendar years 2000–2025) correlate at Pearson r = 0.997; Top-20 journal overlap is 75.0%; the Top-30 keyword Jaccard index is 0.132 (database thesaurus differences are discussed in the manuscript). Derived bibliometric results (cluster assignments, burst strengths, collaboration networks) were computed from these records with CiteSpace, VOSviewer, and the R package bibliometrix, as described in the manuscript. This deposit mirrors the record published on Zenodo (https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.22291228); the data files are identical, and the description has been updated to match the headline metrics reported in the current manuscript version.
