We present the ratios of total organic carbon to total nitrogen contents (TOC/TN) and dry bulk density (DBD) data set to reveal the sedimentary environment evolution and climate changes in the study area since the last deglaciation (17.3 ka). The results show that since 17.3 ka, the inner shelf of the East China Sea has experienced a significant change from a terrestrial to a marine environment. The carbon-related indicators respond well to the Heinrich stadial 1 (HS1), the Younger Dryas (YD) during the last deglaciation, as well as “Bond events” during the Holocene.
