Coded Evidence Dataset for Community Organization of Philippine Non-Volant Small Mammals: A Systematic Review
Description
This dataset contains the coded evidence extracted and synthesized for the systematic review of community organization in Philippine non-volant small mammals. The review evaluates evidence across elevational gradients, habitat structure, anthropogenic disturbance, and historical biogeographic and evolutionary contexts. The dataset contains source-linked ecological observations extracted from eligible peer-reviewed studies, together with standardized coding of environmental context, ecological response, evidence directness, evidence domain, mechanistic interpretation, and synthesis propositions. The coding framework distinguishes descriptive evidence, empirical associations, quantitative or comparative evidence, and direct mechanistic or temporal evidence, and separates persistence and tolerance from demographic resilience and contemporary evolutionary adaptation. The dataset is intended to support transparency, reproducibility, and verification of the evidence synthesis reported in the associated systematic review. Individual observations are not statistically independent effect sizes; multiple observations may originate from the same study, and synthesis proposition assignments are non-mutually exclusive.

The dataset was generated through a systematic review following PRISMA 2020 and environmental evidence-synthesis guidance. Eligible studies were identified through searches of Web of Science Core Collection, Scopus, and Google Scholar using Publish or Perish v8. Records were deduplicated in Zotero and screened in Rayyan using predefined eligibility criteria. Data were extracted using a standardized coding framework covering study characteristics, environmental context, ecological response, evidence directness, evidence domain, mechanistic interpretation, and synthesis propositions. Each retained observation was linked to its source publication and subsequently reconciled at the source level. Duplicate or overlapping observations were resolved during source-level verification. The final dataset should be used together with the accompanying coding documentation to interpret the coding fields and synthesis propositions.
