This repository contains the replication code for “Do Higher-Cost Settings Deliver Better Outcomes? Post-Acute Care Efficiency in Medicare Skilled Nursing Facilities and Home Health Agencies”, published in the Journal of Health Economics. The underlying data used in this study include restricted Medicare administrative claims and enrollment files from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), including the Medicare Provider Analysis and Review (MedPAR) file, Medicare Beneficiary Summary File (MBSF), and Residential History File (RHF). These data were obtained under a CMS data use agreement and cannot be publicly shared due to privacy, confidentiality, and data use restrictions imposed by CMS. Qualified researchers may obtain access to these data directly from CMS by completing the required application and approval processes. The file “Instructions on data access.pdf” provides further information.
