Assessing perceptions of digital banking: Evidence from adopters and non-adopters in northern Thailand
Description
This dataset accompanies the study "Assessing Perceptions of Digital Banking: Evidence from Adopters and Non-adopters in Northern Thailand." It includes survey data from 426 smallholder households in Mae Hong Son Province, collected in March 2024. The study examines digital banking perceptions between adopters (n = 128) and non-adopters (n = 298), analyzing their perceived benefits and barriers. The data are structured around the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT), and key socioeconomic factors. Benefits for adopters include convenience, cost savings, market access, financial services access, and knowledge access, while barriers for non-adopters include digital illiteracy, low transaction needs, fear of fraud, unstable Internet, and unaffordability. Multivariate probit (MVP) models are used to analyze these relationships. This repository includes six files: *Data file_adopter: description of the variables for adopter model *Data file_nonadopter: description of the variables for non-adopter model * Dataset_adopter: data for adopters (n = 128). * Dataset_nonadopter: data for non-adopters (n = 298). * Do-file_adopter: Stata code for adopters' analysis. * Do-file_nonadopter: Stata code for non-adopters' analysis. All data are anonymized. The dataset supports replication of the study's analyses and can be used for research on digital banking, financial inclusion, rural development, and technology adoption.

Steps to reproduce
1. Download the datasets and Stata do-files from this repository. 2. Open the appropriate dataset and corresponding do-file in Stata (version 17 or later). 3. Set the working directory to the folder containing the files. 4. Run Do-file_adopter.do to reproduce the MVP results for adopters. 5. Run Do-file_nonadopter.do to reproduce the MVP results for non-adopters. 6. The do-files automatically estimate the reported models and generate the results presented in the associated publication.
