Description

This dataset contains processed bacterial 16S rRNA gene amplicon data from 240 rhizosphere and bulk-soil samples collected during two sequential maize pot experiments under nicosulfuron-tetracycline co-contamination. Each experiment included four treatments, five sampling times, two soil compartments, and three biological replicates. The dataset includes 176,887 ASV representative sequences, a filtered count table containing 135,571 ASVs, an even-depth count table containing 128,700 ASVs, and metadata for all 240 samples. Each sample in the even-depth table contains 25,772 counts. Taxonomic annotations are included in both count tables. Selected downstream results and analysis and plotting code are also provided. The files support examination of bacterial community responses and ecology-guided candidate prioritization. The README, data dictionary, and code documentation explain file relationships, sample coding, software requirements, and reproducibility limits. M1 inoculation status differs between the two sequential experiments, so cross-experiment comparisons do not isolate an independent inoculation effect. Original sequencing reads and quality-filtered FASTQ files are not available. The ASV representative sequences and abundance tables are processed data and do not replace those files. This work was supported by The Agricultural Science and Technology Innovation Program (CAAS-BRC-GLCA-2025-02).

Steps to reproduce

Extract the ZIP archive and read README.md and 04_code/README.md. Run 04_code/validate_package.py to check file integrity and sequence–table–metadata consistency. Software requirements and analysis and plotting entry points are described in the code README. Some historical workflows require external intermediate files and are not fully portable. Reprocessing from original sequencing reads is not possible because those files are unavailable.
