Description

This systematic review was conducted following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) checklist.5 The study protocol was registered on PROSPERO (CRD42022381416). Relevant case-control studies, case reports, and case series published in English between 2000-2023 were included. Commentaries, editorials, review articles, book chapters, or oral and poster communications were not considered for inclusion. Only papers reporting patients with clinical manifestations consistent with pellagra and who showed improvement after vitamin B3 administration or in whom niacin deficiency was confirmed through serologic and/or urinary tests were included. We searched PubMed and Scopus databases up to 9th January 2023, to identify eligible papers. Results of the systematic review are summarized in the table attached.
