Electrical consumption and demand Dataset from the Federal Institute of Espírito Santo, Serra, Brazil

Description

This dataset contains measurements of electrical consumption (kWh), demand (kW), and other electrical quantities recorded at the IFES Campus Serra from a datalogger supplied by the company ISSO. Data were collected at regular 15 minutes intervals covering the period October 2022 to July 2025. Both raw and processed versions of the dataset are provided, with each file representing one month; they share identical temporal coverage and sampling interval, but raw files from August 2024 and older are in HTML format and are converted to xlsx in the processed version; from September 2024 onwards, all files are xlsx format. The measurements originate from a bidirectional metering system and document the installation’s electrical behavior, including per-phase quantities, aggregated system values, energy flows (direct/reverse), and power-quality indicators. This data collection has a crucial role for the academic community and campus administration by supporting teaching, research, and outreach activities, and by enabling technical analyses and evidence-based decision-making regarding energy consumption, efficiency, and management strategies.

Steps to reproduce

i) Renaming all columns from portuguese to english names; ii) Renaming and standardization of date formats with the creation of a UTC time column in addition to UTC-3 (Brasília time); iii) Creating columns “P. Ativa Fund+Harm Total (kW)” for direct and reverse power, as “P. Ativa Fund+Harm Total” – also direct and reverse – divided by 1000, converting the active power from watts to kilowatts; iv) Creating columns “Kwh Total” for direct and reverse energy, as “P. Ativa Fund+Harm Total (kW)” – also direct and reverse – multiplied by 0.25 (since 15 min = 0.25 h) to compute the energy per interval (kWh).
