Description

This repository contains the analysis-ready data, audit files, Python code, and publication outputs required to reproduce the empirical results reported in the article “Climate Stress, Residual Load, and Electricity-Market Monitoring: Evidence from Four European Day-Ahead Markets.” The study covers Germany-Luxembourg, France, Spain, and the Netherlands from 1 October 2018 to 31 December 2025. The replication package includes quality-controlled market-day panels, variable definitions, data-quality audits, fixed-effects estimation scripts, robustness analyses, and code for reproducing the manuscript tables and figures. The underlying public source data are obtained from the Fraunhofer ISE Energy-Charts API and the NASA POWER Daily API. The package begins from the processed analysis-ready panel; source provenance and all transformations are documented in the included README and audit files. All econometric estimates are interpreted as associational rather than causal.

Steps to reproduce

1. Download and extract 08_Energy_Policy_Replication_Package.zip. 2. Use Python 3.13 or a compatible recent Python version. 3. From the package root, install the required Python packages: pip install -r requirements.txt 4. Run the complete replication pipeline: python run_all.py 5. The scripts execute sequentially as Stage4 -> Stage5 -> Stage6 -> Stage7. 6. Stage4 reproduces the core two-way fixed-effects estimates, Driscoll-Kraay inference, residual-load mechanism diagnostics, and bandwidth robustness checks. 7. Stage5 reproduces the outcome decomposition, leave-one-market/year-out analyses, alternative price outcomes, and market-specific slopes. 8. Stage6 reproduces the secondary cross-border integration extension. 9. Stage7 generates the manuscript-ready tables and figures. The main input archive, Energy_Economics_STAGE3_QC.zip, is included in the replication package. No external data download is required to reproduce the reported econometric results from the analysis-ready panel.
