Description

Supporting data sets to the paper: "Link of dragonflies and damselflies with the aquatic environment is differently expressed in adult and larval stages" which has been published in 'Environmental and Sustainability Indicators' https://doi.org/10.1016/j.indic.2025.100621. The Dutch citizen science initiative ‘Waterdiertjes.nl’ focuses on assessing biological water quality using macroinvertebrates. In 2023, a campaign was launched in which volunteers were encouraged to record flying Odonata while collecting the aquatic macroinvertebrates. In more than 360 sampling events, flying Odonata were indeed also recorded. The excel file (Data_MaFa_Odonata_Environment.xlsx) contains the recordings of the aquatic macroinvertebrates (Tab Macroinvertebrates) as done by the volunteers of 'Waterdiertjes.nl' , provides the sightings of the flying dragonfly and damselfly (Tab Flying_Odonata), as well as some key characteristics of the sampled water systems (dimensions, shape, flow, land-use), presence of fish and presence of vegetation (Tab Additional_data).
