Hypothesis: monk parakeets undergoing natal dispersal use the same tree species to breed in as they were reared in. Dataset includes individual identities of birds, natal nest tree species, proportion of tree species available (palm tree or pine tree), log distance travelled from natal to first nest as one-year old, and whether they switched tree species or not.
Steps to reproduce
Individually mark nestling monk parakeets and record identity of nesting tree. Relocate first year breeders and identify the species of tree in which they nested. Record distance between natal and first breeding nest form GPS locations of the two nests.
