DATASET FOR A SCOPING REVIEW ON MOBILE APPLICATIONS AND DIGITAL PLATFORMS THAT SUPPORT TYPE 2 DIABETES SELF-MANAGEMENT AND CARE FOR IMMIGRANTS AND REFUGEES

Description

This scoping review aims to map and synthesize the existing literature on digital interventions, including mobile and web-based applications, designed for immigrants and refugees with Type 2 diabetes. A comprehensive search was developed with a medical librarian and searches were conducted across PubMed, Medline, Embase, Scopus, CINAHL, and the Cochrane Library, covering studies from January 2011 to March 2025, with limits to English-language publications. Reference lists and expert consultations supplemented the search.

Steps to reproduce

Titles or abstracts and full texts will be screened in Covidence by two independent reviewers, with discrepancies resolved by discussion or a third reviewer. Two extractors will independently pilot and complete data extraction using a standardized form tested on five studies, capturing study details, population characteristics, intervention features, cultural and linguistic adaptations, outcomes, and implementation findings. Data will be analyzed using descriptive synthesis, thematic analysis for cultural adaptations, and categorization by study design, intervention type, target population, and reported outcomes, with results presented in tables and visual maps to identify trends, gaps, and key themes.
