Replication Materials for “From Climate Stress to Food Insecurity: Cumulative Heat, Excess Rainfall, and Household Resilience in Bangladesh”
Description
This dataset contains the analysis-ready data, Stata replication code, variable documentation, source-provenance information, manuscript-output crosswalk, statistical outputs, figures, diagnostics, and other reproducibility materials supporting the study “From Climate Stress to Food Insecurity: Cumulative Heat, Excess Rainfall, and Household Resilience in Bangladesh.” The analysis combines Bangladesh HIES 2022 household data with district-month climate histories derived from CHIRPS, ERA5-Land, and MODIS. The included master Stata script reproduces the reported empirical analyses from the supplied analysis-ready HIES–climate datasets. Source provenance and processing specifications for the underlying household and climate data are also documented in the repository.

Steps to reproduce
1. Download the complete folder named Mominul Islam_2026_Replication_Materials_v1 from this repository and keep the original folder structure unchanged. 2. The analysis requires Stata/MP 14.0 or later. 3. Two user-written Stata packages are required: estout/esttab boottest 4. Open Stata and set the working directory to the downloaded replication folder. Example: cd "D:/Replication/Mominul Islam_2026_Replication_Materials_v1" 5. The working directory must be the folder that directly contains the code, data, documentation, outputs, logs, and other replication folders. 6. If the required Stata packages are not already installed, run: do "code/00_INSTALL_REQUIRED_PACKAGES.do" 7. This script checks for and installs estout/esttab and boottest. 8. Run the complete replication workflow using: do "code/00_RUN_FINAL_REPRODUCTION.do" 9. No individual analysis scripts need to be run manually. The master do-file calls all required analysis scripts in the correct order. 10. The analysis uses the following two analysis-ready datasets from the data folder: data/BD_HIES2022_climate_food_insecurity.dta data/BD_HIES2022_climate_food_insecurity_with_near_far_controls.dta 11. Running the master script creates or regenerates intermediate working files in the work folder, manuscript and supplementary tables in outputs/tables, statistical figures in outputs/figures, diagnostics in outputs/diagnostics, and the reproduction log in logs/FINAL_REPRODUCTION_MASTER.log. 12. At the end of the workflow, the file code/99_VERIFY_REPRODUCED_RESULTS.do automatically checks the main reported results, including the analytical sample size, complete FIES sample, primary climate coefficients, wild-cluster-bootstrap inference, multiplicity adjustments, rainfall asymmetry tests, heterogeneity analyses, future-climate diagnostics, leave-one-district analyses, FIES measurement checks, and standardized effect sizes. 13. A successful reproduction should end with: ALL CORE CHECKS PASSED. and FINAL JOURNAL REPRODUCTION COMPLETED 14. The primary analytical sample contains 13,915 households, while 14,267 households have complete responses to all eight FIES items. 15. The package reproduces the empirical analyses from the supplied analysis-ready HIES-climate datasets. It does not reconstruct those analysis-ready datasets from the original raw HIES modules or from the original raw CHIRPS, ERA5-Land, and MODIS source files. 16. Source provenance and processing specifications are provided in the source_processing folder.
