Dataset Description This repository contains the datasets and analysis scripts used in the study "Stability and Change in Neuroticism Across Adulthood: A Multilevel Meta-Analysis of Longitudinal Studies." The repository includes: • dataframe_effect_size_2026.xlsx: Dataset containing effect sizes (Hedges' g) used in the meta-analysis of mean-level change in neuroticism. Variables include study identifiers, effect sizes, sampling variances, participant characteristics, follow-up intervals, continent, age group, and methodological moderators. • dataframe_effect_size_2026_stability.xlsx: Dataset containing rank-order stability coefficients (Pearson's r) extracted from longitudinal studies of neuroticism. The data were extracted from published longitudinal studies investigating neuroticism across adulthood. Effect sizes and stability coefficients were coded independently from the original articles and organized to support reproducibility of the analyses reported in the manuscript. All analyses were conducted using R and the metafor package. The repository is intended to facilitate transparency, reproducibility, and secondary analyses of personality trait stability and change across the lifespan. The final dataset comprises 76 independent samples from 43 longitudinal studies (N = 43,643 participants) included in the systematic review and meta-analysis. The data support analyses of both rank-order stability and mean-level change in neuroticism across adulthood, including moderator analyses involving age group, follow-up duration, historical cohort, geographic region, and study quality.
