Summertime Western North Atlantic Subtropical High and Eastern–Central United States Precipitation, 1980–2025

Description

These data enable the evaluation of summertime (June-August) Western North Atlantic Subtropical High (WNASH) and its relationships with precipitation variability and precipitation change across the eastern and central United States during 1980–2025. The data files are described below. 1. WNASH_SeaLevelPressure.xlsx – Sea-level pressure (in hPa) for 20,831 ERA5 grid cells in the Western North Atlantic Subtropical High region. 2. WNASH_SeaLevelPressure_Deviations.xlsx – Deviations from mean sea-level pressure (in hPa) for 20,831 ERA5 grid cells in the Western North Atlantic Subtropical High region. 3. WNASH_ComponentLoadings.xlsx – Rotated component loadings for the five retained components from a principal-components analysis of sea-level pressure deviations for 20,831 ERA5 cells in the Western North Atlantic Subtropical High region. 4. WNASH_ComponentScores.xlsx – Component scores for five retained components from a principal-components analysis of sea-level pressure deviations for 20,831 ERA5 cells in the Western North Atlantic Subtropical High region. 5. WesternRidges_Longitude&Latitude.xlsx – Longitude and latitude of 11 western-ridge contours. 6. WesternRidges_Indices.xlsx – The 48 western-ridge indices. 7.
