Description

These data are from a survey, where Hungarian cat owners provided information about their cats' behavior, and shared pictures of the cats with the authors. Based on these photographs, we scored the resemblance of the cats with European wildcats, as a proxy of potential wildcat introgression.

The data are originating from a questionnaire survey. Cat owners were requested to provide details of their cat keeping practices, the origin and signalment details of their cats. 5-grade Likert scale questions were used to collect behavioral data of the cats. Cat owners provided photographs about thei cats, which the authors scored according to the methods of Kitchener et al., (2005), to describe the extent of hybrid features (potential introgression of European wildcats). The data file contains a sheet "Key" where you can find further help about the grades of the fixed variables.
