AFP Fact Check Data of South Asia

Description

The dataset comprises 2,178 entries of politically relevant misinformation fact-checked by AFP across South Asian countries between January 2020 and March 2025. Each entry includes the URL of the fake news image (img-fluid src), publication date (date-short-format), the headline or summary of the false claim (Title), the country where the misinformation originated (Source), and the neighboring country the misinformation concerns or targets (Neighbour). This dataset is particularly valuable for tracking cross-border misinformation flows in South Asia, with recurring themes related to political rivalry, nationalism, and communal tensions.
