Steps to reproduce

Fog samples were collected from two mountainous sites in Taiwan: Chilan Mountain and Lulin Atmospheric Background Station from April 13 to May 24, 2011. A total of 43 fog water samples, along with 2 blanks, were collected in covered 2 L high-density polyethylene (HDPE) bottles. Samples were manually retrieved once enough fog water accumulated for chemical analysis. Low molecular weight dicarboxylic acids and related compounds in fog water samples, including oxoacids, dicarbonyls and fatty acids were determined using a derivatization method with boron trifluoride (BF3) in n-butanol.
