Inorganic selenium effect on rat kidney

Description

Supplementation with sodium selenite for 8 days to rats in dose 1 mg/kg was done. Control group receive saline i.p. Serum sodium, potassium, urea and creatinine levels were measured. In kidney tissue levels of oxidative stress markers, MDA and carbonyl groups were measured. Kidney tissue was processed for microscopic examination and stained with HE and PAS stains. Morphometric analysis of images of kidney specimen was done for glomeruli and proximal and distal tubuli.
