Description

This Excel data file contains 558 adult-swimmer survey responses across 60 variables, including response metadata, demographic information, training history, weekly training frequency, competition status, and item-level psychological scale responses. It also includes computed variables such as Resilience, HP_Passion, OP_Passion, CR_Passion, and Competition Status. Overall, the dataset is suitable for examining how passion, resilience, competitive status, and training-related characteristics are associated in adult swimmers, including through Bayesian network analysis.

Steps to reproduce

To reproduce the dataset and analysis, first recruit adult swimmers and collect the same survey variables, including demographic information, training history, days trained per week, competitive status, resilience, and the three passion dimensions: HP_Passion, OP_Passion, and CP_Passion. Next, clean the dataset by removing incomplete or invalid responses, coding categorical variables consistently, computing scale scores from the questionnaire items, and retaining the final analytic variables used in the network model. Finally, estimate the Bayesian network using the retained variables, apply the same edge-retention criterion based on inclusion probability, and reproduce the network table and graph showing the direct associations among passion, resilience, competitive status, and training characteristics.
