Description

This dataset contains the raw experimental data supporting a study investigating the effects of prepartum maternal chromium propionate supplementation on neonatal calves. Prepartum Holstein dairy cows were assigned to a control treatment (Con), a low-dose chromium propionate supplementation treatment (CrL), or a high-dose chromium propionate supplementation treatment (CrH). The dataset includes maternal characteristics and production-related measurements, including body weight, parity, body condition score, and dry matter intake; neonatal calf growth measurements, including birth weight, body weight at 7, 14, and 21 d of age, and average daily gain; neonatal plasma chromium concentrations; oxidative stress-related biomarkers; meconium short-chain fatty acid concentrations; and Nrf2/KEAP1 signaling pathway-related protein concentrations. The workbook contains de-identified individual-level data, treatment-group information, variable definitions, measurement units, and metadata required to interpret the dataset.
