Has the Joint Prevention and Control Policy for Air Pollution in Urban Agglomerations Effectively Improved Urban Air Quality?
Description
This dataset contains the replication files for the paper entitled "Has the Joint Prevention and Control Policy for Air Pollution in Urban Agglomerations Effectively Improved Urban Air Quality?" The data cover the period from 2013 to 2021 and include 178 prefecture-level administrative divisions across China. Daily observations are provided for key variables, including air quality indicators (AQI and PM2.5 concentrations), meteorological variables (wind speed, temperature, and precipitation), socioeconomic variables, nighttime light data, and scientific and technological expenditure. Due to data use agreements, the raw data cannot be publicly released. Instead, this repository provides standardized and anonymized data that have been processed to protect the confidentiality of the original sources while preserving the analytical structure necessary to replicate the main results of the paper. All variables have been normalized and anonymized. The accompanying code files (Stata do-files) reproduce all main results presented in the paper, including baseline DID regressions, mediation analysis, moderation analysis, heterogeneity analysis, and robustness checks.
