Description

This is a spreadsheet workbook includes the data from all recorded treatment changes for a sample of 8 patients having had an episode of Acanthamoeba keratitis managed using individualised treatment delivery, as opposed to per-protocol delivery, for a sample (one in every sixth patient of a 48 patient consecutive series) from London (Moorfields Eye Hospital) treated patients between 1997 and 2011. This series is from a dataset used in a previous study (Papa V, Rama P, Radford C, Minassian DC, Dart JKG. Acanthamoeba keratitis therapy: time to cure and visual outcome analysis for different antiamoebic therapies in 227 cases. Br J Ophthalmol. Apr 2020;104(4):575-581. doi:10.1136/bjophthalmol-2019-314485). The first worksheet "Comparison of protocols and cases" compares the treatment delivery for these cases to that of the protocol specifications for critical keratitis treatment points. The protocol specifications are from the treatment delivery protocol used in a published Phase 3 Trial (Dart JKG, Papa V, Rama P, et al. The Orphan Drug for Acanthamoeba Keratitis (ODAK) Trial: PHMB 0.08% (Polihexanide) and Placebo versus PHMB 0.02% and Propamidine 0.1. Ophthalmology. Mar 2024;131(3):277-287. doi:10.1016/j.ophtha.2023.09.031). The second worksheet includes all the treatment changes throughout the course of treatment to the last follow-up visit for each of the 8 cases.
