Braille reading in early and late blind subjects during critical developmental period: An fMRI study

Description

This is fMRI (190 )and T1W data for Braille reading for all the six groups. T1W data used for the evaluation of grey and white matter intensity. Also, T1W data has been used for the mapping of individual subject hemodynamic response calculation of brain area.

Steps to reproduce

MR imaging were carried out on a 3T MR scanner (Achieva, 3.0T TX, M/s. Philips Medical Systems, The Netherlands) with a 32-channel head coil. All subjects underwent Braille reading task before and during MRI scans. The BOLD imaging involved 190 transverse whole brain volumes using echo planar imaging sequence in anterior-posterior phase encoding direction with a flip angle of 90°, Field of view (FOV) 210 mm, TR/TE 2000/30 ms, 29 slices 4.5 mm each without gap. 3D T1-weighted gradient echo-based TFE sequence with iso-voxel, was acquired in sagittal plane for anatomical reference with the following parameters: 180 slices, voxel dimension 1x1x1 mm3, TR/TE 8.3/3.9 ms, NSA: 1, FOV = 240 mm. The task (for the instructor) was generated using the E-prime software (version 1.1, Psychology Software Tools, Inc. Sharpsburg, PA 15215, USA) and E-Sys system (M/s Philips Healthcare).
