The dataset refers to the paper "Path towards decarbonization: The role of hydropower in the generation mix" and contains two folders. In the folder "Research Data" all relevant input data used in the simulations are reported in excel format, namely hourly production coefficients of photovoltaic and wind, hourly load demand and hourly lateral inflows of the equivalent hydro dam. All data refer to the time period 2016-2019. In the folder "Supplementary Material" there are two files. The .pdf file "Optimization_Model_Formulation" contains all equations of the optimization model and the relevant explanations. The .xlsx file "Results_of_simulations" contains all the results of the parametric study described in the paper.
