This dataset contains quantitative and qualitative data collected during a study that investigated the effectiveness of Interactive Computer-Based Laboratory Simulations (ICBLS) in improving students' performance and concept retention in the chemistry topic of chemical reactions. The data was collected in three phases: 1. Pre-test Phase – To establish students’ baseline understanding of chemical reactions. 2. Intervention Phase – Students in the experimental group used ICBLS during chemistry instruction, while the control group used conventional teaching methods. 3. Post-test and Retention Test Phase – To evaluate learning gains and long-term retention.

Steps to reproduce

Purposive sampling was used to select study participants and site, Pre-Test Administered to both groups before the intervention to assess baseline knowledge on the topic of chemical reactions (types and processes). For the experimental group, conduct chemistry lessons using interactive computer-based laboratory simulations (ICBLS), while control group, deliver the same content using traditional methods (lecture, chalkboard, and textbook-based activities). The study took 4 weeks of regular instruction (3–4 periods/week, 40–80 minutes per session). Post-Test Administered after completing the lessons, administer the same Test to both groups as a post-retention-test. The collect data were analyzed using Excel and SPSS version.
