Dataset of ESG and environmental indicators in the hydrocarbon sector

Description

This dataset contains ESG, environmental, and policy-related variables for 25 publicly listed hydrocarbon companies over a ten-year period. The data were obtained from the Bloomberg ESG database under licensed access and subsequently cleaned, structured, and organized for research purposes.

Steps to reproduce

The dataset can be reproduced and used by following these steps: 1. Download the Excel file provided in this repository. 2. Open the dataset using spreadsheet software (e.g., Microsoft Excel, R, Python, or similar statistical tools). 3. Each row represents a firm-year observation, and each column corresponds to a specific variable, including ESG scores, environmental indicators, and policy-related variables. 4. Continuous variables (e.g., emissions, energy consumption) are provided in their original measurement units as reported by Bloomberg. 5. Policy-related variables are coded as binary indicators (0 = absence, 1 = presence). 6. The dataset can be directly used for statistical analysis, econometric modeling, or machine learning applications. 7. No additional preprocessing is required beyond standard data handling procedures depending on the selected analytical method.
