Spatial distribution of methane emissions in shallow polluted ponds

Description

This dataset contains spatially resolved measurements of methane (CH₄) fluxes and associated environmental parameters from two shallow, polluted wastewater ponds: Texcoco and San Joaquín (Mexico). Data were collected using a custom-built, low-cost Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV) equipped with an open dynamic chamber, GPS, echosounder, and multiparametric water probe. The dataset includes CH₄ flux (mg m⁻² h⁻¹), its logarithmic transformation, and physicochemical parameters such as water temperature, pH, oxidation–reduction potential (ORP), electrical conductivity (EC), dissolved oxygen (DO), and water depth. Coordinates and metadata for each sampling point are provided. This dataset supports the manuscript “Spatial distribution of methane emissions in shallow polluted aquatic ecosystems measured with a low-cost unmanned surface vehicle”, submitted to the Journal of Environmental Management (JEM) by Rodríguez-García et al.
