Bulk chemical compositions and REY and Sc resource potentials of deep-sea sediments in the South Pacific Gyre
Description
We measured the bulk chemical compositions of deep-sea sediments in the South Pacific Gyre obtained by Integrated Ocean Drilling Program Expedition 329 (Holes U1365A, U1366C, U1367B, U1368B, U1369B, and U1370D). In addition, we estimated the rare-earth elements plus yttrium (REY) and Sc resource potentials in these sediments based on the resulting geochemical data. This dataset includes four tables. Table 1 shows the site locations and water depths of the cores used in this study (from D’Hondt et al., 2011, https://doi.org/10.2204/iodp.proc.329.2011). Table 2 shows the maximum cumulative concentration depths (MCCDs) and maximum cumulative concentrations (MCCs) of REY and Sc, and total-oxide-basis amounts of Sc and REY (M_MCCD) per square kilometer. Table S1 shows the bulk chemical compositions of all sediment samples. Table S2 presents MCC and total oxide-basis amounts of Sc and REY per square kilometer at all sampled depths.
