TASSEL Railway Database

Description

This database provides information about Portugal’s railway network between 1971 and 2021, particularly for: number of railway stations in operation, by municipality; extension of railway lines in operation, by municipality; daily frequencies per station (one direction) by type of rail service, by municipality; travel times between origin-destination pairs, at the station level, by type of rail service. There are three types of rail services: Long-distance (LD), Regional (Reg), and Urban (Urb). The database was constructed as part of the project TASSEL “Growth or Relocation? Accessibility and Economic Activity Location” (https://doi.org/10.54499/PTDC/GES-GCE/4046/2021), funded by Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (FCT).
