Source data for GluCEST imaging of acute hypobaric-hypoxia brain injury
Description
This dataset contains numerical source data underlying Figures 1–5 and the associated statistical tables for a rat study of acute hypobaric hypoxia at a simulated altitude of 8000 m. It includes paired pre/post GluCEST, quantitative MRI and ¹H-MRS measurements; region-matched Western blot measurements; behavioral outcomes; and histological quantification. Imaging/Western blot and behavioral/histological measurements were obtained from separate cohorts, and the 1-day and 3-day exposure groups comprised different animals. Data are provided in Excel and CSV formats, with variable definitions, units, normalization details and reported statistical outputs. The accompanying script verifies selected reported results rather than reproducing all manuscript analyses. Raw MRI acquisitions, behavioral videos, microscopy images and original Western blot images are not included in this numerical dataset.

Steps to reproduce
1. Download all files and extract csv.zip and reported_statistics.zip. Arrange the extracted CSV files in folders named csv and reported_statistics alongside verify_reported_results.py. 2. Read README.md and Data_dictionary.csv for variable definitions, units, cohort identifiers, normalization procedures and observational units. 3. Use GluCEST_Source_Data.xlsx or the corresponding CSV files to inspect the numerical observations underlying Figures 1–5. Imaging change scores are post-exposure minus pre-exposure. Average immunohistochemical field measurements within each animal and region before animal-level analysis. 4. Consult reported_statistics for the existing manuscript comparison estimates and adjusted P/q values. 5. To verify selected results, install numpy, pandas, scipy and statsmodels, then run python verify_reported_results.py. The script checks pooled Pearson correlations and BH correction, selected behavioral results and immunohistochemical field averaging. It does not rerun all manuscript statistical models.
