This study is anchored in three complementary perspectives: Cultural Transmission, Religious Change and Collective Memory. The Cultural Transmission Perspective views culture as a dynamic process through which beliefs, practices, traditions, and values are transmitted across generations while also being modified through interaction with other communities. The Religious Change Perspective explains religious transformation as a process shaped by conversion, institutionalization, adaptation, contestation, migration, and cultural interaction rather than simple replacement of one belief system by another. The Collective Memory Perspective emphasizes how communities construct and preserve understandings of the past through oral narratives, family histories, commemorations, places, rituals, and intergenerational transmission. Together, these perspectives provide a framework for examining how religious practices and cultural traditions in Caraycaray developed, changed, and was remembered across generations.
