Description

These measurements were taken from 120 experimental ostrich eggshell disc beads in 2025. These show how their shape and size changed over 3 ten-minute intervals of polishing using known ethnographic and suspected Stone Age techniques. Variables followed by a “1” were collected prior to polishing. Variables followed by a “2” were collected after 10 minutes of polishing, etc. Measurements were collected from photos of the beads using ImageJ. Complete explanations for how each variable was calculated can be found at: https://imagej.net/ij/docs/menus/analyze.html
