Description

This dataset contains UV-Vis spectroscopic data for the preservation and transformation of lycopene under Mars-relevant conditions. All measurements were performed using a Shimadzu UV-1800 spectrophotometer at room temperature (25 °C) over a wavelength range of 200–600 nm. However, data from 200–320 nm were excluded as they contained no meaningful information, and only the spectral range of 320–600 nm is provided in this dataset. Prior to measurement, each sample was diluted tenfold to bring the absorbance within the optimal range for accurate quantification. The lycopene samples had an initial concentration of 0.1 g/L. For quantification, lycopene concentration was determined based on absorbance readings at 447 nm, using a pre-established standard curve to convert absorbance values into concentrations. Each sample was measured in triplicate (denoted as A, B, and C), from which mean values and standard deviations were calculated. Additionally, normalized concentration data (C/C₀) are included to facilitate kinetic fitting of the degradation or transformation profiles. All data are organized in a single Excel file, with each sheet corresponding to a distinct experimental condition and containing the raw spectral data, calculated concentration values, and normalized data for fitting purposes.
