Replication Data and Code for “Why Industrial Gas Prices Remained Elevated after Europe’s 2022 Energy Crisis: Evidence from Pre-crisis Russian Gas Dependence”
Description
This dataset contains the processed analysis data and replication code supporting the manuscript “Why Industrial Gas Prices Remained Elevated after Europe’s 2022 Energy Crisis: Evidence from Pre-crisis Russian Gas Dependence.” The study examines industrial gas-price persistence across twelve European Union member states over 2015–2024, with particular attention to pre-crisis Russian gas dependence, supplier diversification, and the industrial–wholesale price wedge following the 2022 European energy crisis. The repository contains an annual country panel (120 country-year observations), a semiannual panel used for the difference-in-differences and event-study analyses (240 potential observations; 239 usable observations), the Python replication script for the econometric analyses and robustness checks, the companion script for the calibrated simulation, and a README describing the files and reproduction procedure. The processed panels were constructed by the authors from publicly available Eurostat, IMF/FRED, and European Central Bank data. The replication code reproduces the principal fixed-effects estimates, difference-in-differences results, event-study estimates, robustness checks, supplementary analyses, and the calibrated simulation reported in the manuscript and supplementary materials. The underlying source data remain available from their original public providers and are cited in the manuscript.
