Source data for Epichloë bromicola-associated growth advantages are decoupled from consistent soil microbiome shifts in Hordeum bogdanii across contrasting field sites
Description
This dataset accompanies the manuscript entitled “Epichloë bromicola-associated growth advantages are decoupled from consistent soil microbiome shifts in Hordeum bogdanii across contrasting field sites.” It contains plot-level plant growth data, archived soil physical measurements, descriptive pre-planting site baselines, multiplicity-adjusted statistical results for microbial biomass and alpha diversity, and PERMDISP outputs. Low- and high-salinity backgrounds represent two natural field sites rather than replicated experimental salinity treatments. Approximate soil pH values reconstructed from a supplied figure are isolated in a separate worksheet and are not raw plot-level observations. The dataset does not include raw PacBio sequence reads.

Steps to reproduce
1.Download the accompanying Excel workbook and open the README worksheet for an overview of the dataset, sampling design and interpretation boundaries. 2.Consult the Data dictionary worksheet for variable definitions, units, treatment codes and missing-value conventions. 3.Plant growth raw contains plot-level plant height and aboveground fresh- and dry-biomass measurements. Soil physical raw contains archived bulk-density and total-porosity measurements. 4.Figure-digitized pH contains approximate values reconstructed from a supplied figure. These values are clearly identified and should not be treated as raw plot-level observations or used for inferential reanalysis. 5.Growth models and Growth contrasts contain factorial model outputs and prespecified E+ versus E− contrasts. Alpha diversity and Microbial biomass contain context-specific group means, test statistics, unadjusted P-values and multiplicity-adjusted q-values. 6.PERMDISP period and PERMDISP context contain the multivariate-dispersion results reported in the manuscript. The adjustment method and comparison family are specified in the corresponding columns. 7.Blank cells represent unavailable or non-applicable values and must not be interpreted as zero. Low- and high-salinity backgrounds represent two natural field sites rather than replicated experimental salinity treatments. 8.This workbook supports verification of the reported source-data summaries and statistical outputs. It does not contain raw PacBio reads, sample-level ASV/OTU tables or the complete analysis scripts and therefore does not independently reproduce the complete amplicon-sequencing workflow.
