Description

This dataset describes a curated Ipomoea batatas (L.) Lam. (sweetpotato) germplasm evaluation conducted at Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA), Hanoi, Vietnam, provided as a single multi-sheet Excel workbook. The workbook contains a VNUA-KL accession registry for 50 materials, unreplicated Stage I screening records for all 50 accessions, validation-stage plot-level records for 26 genotypes across three replicates, and a genotype-level summary covering 22 phenotypic and quality traits, including yield components, root architecture classes, spectrophotometric total carotenoid estimates (mg 100 g-1 DW), breeder-assessed eating-quality descriptors and pest/disease tolerance scores. Binary SSR marker-band profiles and a pairwise Jaccard similarity matrix for the 26-genotype validation panel are included, generated from ten microsatellite markers (S0940, S0911, S0782, S0819, SPGS2, S0871, S0694, S0922, S0338 and SPGS3) yielding 21 scored marker bands in total. A dedicated Variable_Dictionary sheet defines every trait code, full column name and unit. Value of the data: - The workbook links a 50-accession registry to a 26-genotype validation panel, allowing users to distinguish screening evidence from replicated validation evidence. - The phenotype sheet combines yield, root architecture, spectrophotometric total carotenoid estimates, sensory-quality scores and stress scores, making the dataset reusable for agronomic and quality-trait data exercises. - The SSR sheets provide binary marker-band scores and a Jaccard similarity matrix suitable for teaching, redundancy checking or reanalysis. - A dedicated Variable_Dictionary sheet defines trait codes, full column names and units, so column meanings can be checked without referring back to the companion manuscript. A companion Data in Brief manuscript describing this dataset in full has been submitted (manuscript no. DIB-D-26-01950).
