Description

Qualitative data collected for a study on understanding adolescents contraceptive needs in Ghana. It includes transcriptions from focus group discussions with older adolescents from a district in the Greater Accra region of Ghana. Most of the focus group discussions were held in the Ga or Twi language and therefore the transcripts have been translated into English. For easy reading and clarity, the the transcripts have been edited for gramatical errors in the articles published from the data. The data was analysed thematically.

The FGD participants were recruited with the help of a focal person in the community. The focal person was briefed about the study and he assisted with the participant recruitment. Eight FGDs (four groups of young men and four groups of young women) were held with adolescents aged 15–19 years across four communities in the Ga South and Ga West Districts in Greater Accra Region.
