Description

This dataset contains anonymized information from a multi-actor survey on unauthorized motorcycle taxi services in an intermediate Colombian city. The dataset integrates 1,400 valid responses distributed across three groups: 600 motorcycle taxi users, 700 service providers and 100 bus and taxi drivers. Its purpose is to support empirical analysis of an informal urban mobility service that simultaneously operates as an everyday transport solution, an informal income source, a road safety concern and a source of conflict with formal operators. The file includes sociodemographic variables, travel and use patterns, service valuation, safety perception, labor and operating conditions, income and costs, social protection, SOAT insurance, uniform use, bay or association membership, digital payments, mobile application use and perceived impacts on formal transport. It also includes derived variables for descriptive analysis, bivariate tests, binary logistic models, internal consistency assessment of Likert-type items and policy-oriented analytical dimensions. The data were processed in aggregated and anonymized form. The dataset does not include personal names, identification numbers, telephone numbers, addresses, vehicle license plates, coordinates, specific operating points or direct personal identifiers. Sensitive variables were removed, aggregated or treated to prevent the identification of individuals, vehicles, companies, routes or specific service locations. For this reason, the dataset is considered low risk and is intended exclusively for academic research, transport policy analysis and scientific reproducibility. The dataset supports the examination of five main dimensions: urban functionality, modal conflict, road safety, labor precariousness and regulatory capacity. These dimensions inform the analysis of an adaptive governance route based on road safety, visible identification, digital traceability, territorial organization, gradual social protection and conditional coordination with formal transport. The dataset should not be interpreted as a probabilistic population estimate or as causal evidence; its value lies in identifying patterns, associations and policy-relevant tensions for the study of informal mobility and transport governance in intermediate cities.
