Component-level biomass and carbon density data of Picea crassifolia forests in the eastern Qilian Mountains, China

Qinghai spruce (Picea crassifolia Kom.) is the dominant and constructive tree species of the forest ecosystem in the Qilian Mountains. Accurately assessing its biomass and carbon storage is of great significance for regional carbon sink evaluation and sustainable forest management. In this study, 51 permanent plots were established on the northern slope of the Qilian Mountains in 2016. All living trees with diameter at breast height (DBH) ≥ 5 cm within each plot were measured using the tally tree method. Based on the volume-derived biomass method and carbon conversion coefficients, the biomass and carbon density of various components (stem, bark, branches, foliage, and roots) of Qinghai spruce in the eastern Qilian Mountains were estimated. The dataset includes plot geographic locations, topographic factors, and biomass and carbon density metrics, spatially covering the main forest areas and the distribution range of Qinghai spruce in the eastern Qilian Mountains.
