This dataset contains a comprehensive collection of z-stack confocal images from whole-mount adult Drosophila melanogaster brains. The images document the detailed cell-type expression patterns of 52 genes essential for sphingolipid metabolism. The expression of each gene was visualized using the GAL4-UAS binary system and immunostainings. Specific GAL4 reporter lines (C-terminus 3XHA-T2A-GAL4 insertion), which faithfully recapitulate the endogenous expression of the target genes, were used to drive a nuclear red fluorescent protein (UAS-mCherry-nls). Anti-Elav and anti-Repo stainings were used to label neurons and glia, respectively. Anti-HA stainings were used to visualize protein distributions.
